There are a variety of ways to subdivide the Majors of the Tarot. I tend to split them into two groups: an upper group (Trumps 0-X) and a lower group (Trumps XI-XXI). When assigning the Hebrew alphabet to these cards I start with "Aleph", the first letter in 0, the Fool, and then assign them alphabetically all the way down to "Tau", the last letter, in XXI, the World. This is the custom from the Golden Dawn, on. For us, this means that in our Forest of Life pathworking, we are moving back upwards through the Hebrew alphabet from Tau towards Aleph. Sort of.
There are deeper movements at work. Another current is coming to meet us from the future. How so? Well... when you take the 22-letter Hebrew alphabet and fold it over in the middle, you can make up 11 pairs: first with last, second with second last, third with third last and so on. This is a Kabbalistic procedure known as "Athbash". Athbash is simply "Aleph-Tau-Beth-Shin", the first and last, 2nd and second last letters paired. The name is an example of the procedure.
If we perform the Athbash fold and then look at the card-pairs that result, we can discover some hidden affinities. What is more, we will notice that in every case (at least in a Rider Waite Deck), the total Trump value of the pair has the value of 21. For example- Death XIII, and Strength VIII are an athbash pair, and total 21.The Tower XVI and the Heirophant V, likewise - with a total trump value of 21. The key to discovering a Major's twin card in this way, is to just make up the difference between its Trump value, and XXI.
In this, the most prototypical example, XXI the world, and 0, the Fool, show themselves to be a double energy. In fact they are THE double energy: pure awareness (the Fool) and pure inertia (the World) are never apart from one another: they are like the outside and inside of a Klein bottle - the yin and the yang.
They are also, on the most general level, the ONLY thing going on in reality: awareness is encountering inertias. Full stop. Now, it is of course more nuanced than that - but here, in the World, we need only acknowledge the general case.
As we move up through the sequence of Majors, there are echoes of an approaching energy moving down through that same sequence. As we approach the divine, the divine approaches us.
This method will yield very rich fruits, if fully explored. I attach a list of questions that we could ask the Tarot relating to each of these pairings. The question for the World/Fool pairing is simply "What should we know generally?".
