How the Ibisystem happened - and how you can learn it.

So I thought I'd try and put into a few words the nature of the last 20 or so years of my magickal journey. I am finding myself moving in vast, slow pulses - I have just passed through the nadir of an arc - a journey that has taken me, over the last 6 years from Kether to Malkuth and which will soon round the corner and move back up the tree - again over a 6 year process.

My journey started in the 90's - I read Crowley and Regardie and Caroll and R.A.W and became a somewhat freeform Hermetic mage - I also started a scholarly program in Philosophy, Religion, and Linguistics. During that time I was especially fascinated by Buddhism and Taoism, and that became part of the mix, and my university crowd was of the activist kind - what the kids now call "woke" (Yeah, I still stand by it). We ran a kitchen that provided free food for people, we threw huge raves, we attended protests. We were punks, hippies, anarchists, travelers.

In my honors year - 2002 or so, I was introduced to the Dreamspell and Jose Arguelles' magickal calendrics: this struck a chord, because I always intuitively knew that calendars were a major collective conditioning force in terms of human experience. At the same time I started reading Gilles Deleuze and Henri Bergson - and was well equipped to view magic as a kind of structural apparatus, and time a malleable field of transformations.

My early years in magick, I was very psychological about it - and resistant to naieve metaphysics - I am more of a Diogenes than a Plato. In any event, Deleuze, Crowley, Spinoza, Bergson all kind-of mingled together for me, but being more on the side of social reform than conquest, I found myself leaning toward the Maat current.

In 2003 I moved across Canada to my (now) home in Newfoundland, and I signed up for the Horus Maat Lodge newsletter. By this time, my main practice was long range, systematized path-workings, usually from XXI to 0 in the tarot, and usually holding each path for a set period of time or until a specific work was done.

I had been part of a forums called Abrahadabra forums, run by a guy who called himself m1thr0s - and who was an extremely logical sort of magus. He was a practitioner of the Tai Hsuan Ching - the I Ching's Ternary Brother, and he shared his methods for using magic squares, like the Lo Shu, as "projected" fields of influence - essentially morphogenic fields.

Because of my readings of Bergson, who like Heraclitus, put time prior to space, ontologically, I naturally started to think of these fields as time-conditioners, and my intital interest in Arguelle's calendrics as a "solution" to the problem of imperial time became more nuanced: I identified a methodology of challenging hegemonic narratives by creating calendars. Unbeknowst to me at the time, I was picking up Phillip K. Dick's work from the Exegesis - where he challenged the "Black Iron Prison" a metaphor for Roman imperial chronology and it's effects of "calendar hypnosis".

I used a Heliocentric ephemeris to identify the draconic nodes of different planets - where they intersect with the ecliptic, and I began to design special calendars based on the astronomical orbits of these planets that carried ritual programs with them. For instance, Mercury was first, because it had 88 Days in it, and I could program four pathworkings of the Tarot - one in each elemental "world"- onto that orbit as a host. This meant that my workings were yoked to the physical movements of Mercury - and the results were astonishing and sometimes terrifying. This method has Torque.

I launched the Mercury calendar, called the Thoth count, on Dec 19th, 2003, and it kindof inititated the whole process. The years went by, I continued my school - did a masters, entered a PhD program.

In the first phase of its development (and I like to think that now I am in a third), which lasted for about 10 years, I was very concerned with the 2012 date - not as a literalist end time, but as a marker: as a goal-post for getting my system up and running: the Ibisystem.

I built many calendars of which 9 became Canonical to the system:

Mercury, Venus, Earth, Moon, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune. All of these were created and launched over the period between 2003 and 2012. Each was a different program - each produced a different image of time - each image was interrelated to the others fractally, and created a kindof massive polychronological hyper object.

My aim was not to challenge the Gregorian Calendar, but to establish a departure from monolithic calendars altogether. To break the monopoly on time and to ameliorate the phenomenon of calendar hypnosis.

I had created an apocalyptic orrery: the Ibisystem Apocalyptic Orrery, or the IAO, for short.

After 2012 a new phase was initiated - for about 10 years I made every effort to remove subjective narratives from my work and focus on logic and empirical science. I anti-magicked myself on purpose so that I could experience the chassis or framework of these systems.

I began to use NASA's database to refine the system. Using Abrahadabra, I developed a system that could be compared to a magickian's blockchain: a series of countably infinite discoverable magical cubes (EBPSes: Emirp Bracketed Palatial Systems:) that could assist in hosting the magickal fields that my calendrics emmitted and which also was usable for memorizing starmaps. I moved to Hong Kong to study Wing Chun and Hung Kuen. The magic began to grow back on that chassis like grapes on a trellis. I got my PhD in 2019 in Interdisciplinary studies between Sociology, Religious Studies and Philosophy.

During Covid I started teaching a course that used the Venus Calendar (a very user-accessable system of pathworking) to study the Tarot, and that became the Meta-Magick Tarot course, available on Perseus Arcane Academy. Introduction to Meta Magick Tarot - Perseus Arcane Academy

I was also commissioned by Dr Scott Jeffery - whom I met at the Trans States conference in Northhampton - to make a 10th calendar: the Fairy Dog. This is a species of its own: the Ibisystem's child, but in many ways, at least individually, the most potent of them all. It has a new years of August 21st. fairy.dog

The Mercury (Thoth Count) calendar became largely about Enochian, and the Mars (Lighthouse Count) about the Ibisystem itself.

As of the writing of this Blog article, the Ibisystem has become front and center for me again - After a series of key new years' this fall and a turn around in my energy and focus, I am now engaged in working with the rhythms of Mercury, Venus, Mars, and Jupiter.

I have decided that now is the time to bring other people more seriously on board with how this ambitious system works, and how it can transform a life. So, begining in March 2025, I will teach a 4-week "Introduction to the Ibisystem".

In this class you will learn how to operate the three main calendars: Mercury, Venus and Mars. You will be given access to calendar trackers, as well as an Almanac. more importantly, you will be guided through exercises in synchronization that will help you atune to the counts, alongside other interesting people.

You will have the option of ongoing guidance in the form of timed calendrical emails from myself, which will teach you about the symbols and systems involved.

In short - you will be given the opportunity to learn a new modality of advanced time magick.
