The Ripplefield is unique to the meta-magick approach. It is a porous magickal boundary that intelligently manages energies going into - and coming out of - the centre. It is an alchemizing membrane.
If you consider that the 22 major arcana may be paired into 11 double energies, whose total trump value is XXI, then you are at the doorstep of the Ripplefield. This is how to proceed. Ask yourself about the two trumps that make up a pair - 0 and XXI, for example. What is the difference between these numbers? Obviously it is 0. But take a different example - XX and I - the difference between the two is XIX. The pair of XX/I gives us XIX as its output - so to speak. Now XIX is paired with II, so we have a new double energy - and that one gives us XVII/IV in the same way. Each pair births a new one, until that loop closes.
It turns out there are four distinct loops in the structure of the tarot that are disclosed in this way. These are the four circuits of the ripplefield. I have color coded them Green, Red, Purple, and Blue. These are independent circuits. There are two trumps in the Green "domain" circuit, twelve trumps in the Red "flow" circuit, six trumps in the purple "trial" circuit, and two cards in the blue "art" circuit. If we assign the sequence of trumps to the bands of the Chartres Labyrinth, and color code them, we can see that the outer ring is the green Domain circuit, and the other four circuits nest inside of it.
The Green circuit is the all-embracing general case.
The Red circuit is about transformation, flow, and connection.
The Purple circuits form "density walls", that divide the structure into an outer chamber, a middle chamber, and an inner chamber.
The Blue circuit is a place of alchemy, purification, and power.
This is the Ripplefield - it is a metamagickian's "auric nimbus", and it is both porous and protective.
